Sociology Society SSS HKUSU (SOCI) is the leading undergraduate student body specialized in the study of Sociology and Criminology in Hong Kong and is one of the largest non-profit-making student bodies under the Faculty of Social Sciences in the University of Hong Kong. With a history dating back to 1977, SOCI has taken a pioneer role in fostering the sociological imagination among our members and equipping them with the necessary analytical capability to approach the society in a holistic way. The society is at the forefront of dissecting complex issues including gender roles and globalization. As the official student representative body of the Department of Sociology, SOCI promotes the unity of all sociology and criminology students past and present. It serves as the platform for communication between students and the Department. SOCI also publishes “The Sociologist”, the official publication of the Society. With a longstanding tradition, SOCI has over the years accumulated a member base of over 5,000 graduate and undergraduate full members.
