FRITES is by now a well-known family of bars and restaurants around Hong Kong, but each location has its own quirks and characteristics. Here in Wan Chai, this mecca for Belgian beer and delicious food feels more like a semi-classy getaway than a boisterous bar, maybe because it has the right mix of hospitality and quality to attract crowds from Wan Chai’s less.sophisticated watering holes for a touch of something a bit more sanitary. Still, at its heart FRITES is a sociable place, as full with cheer as their large handles are full of frothy Belgian ales – over 80 to choose from, actually. Popular especially during its loosely labelled ‘happy hour’ (3-8pm) on weekdays, FRITES is always buzzing but you’ll see why once you cosy up with a beer and tuck into some of their amazing food (we recommend a bucket of mussels for the full Belgian immersion).
